In Alex? You've got to be
kidding; it just doesn't exist!
Biblioteque Cafe CDDDD - Thoroughly unpleasant experience, surprisingly run by the Hilton chain; avoid.
Carre Forre
Cilantro CCCCD - The best cafe in Carre Forre. Great selection of desserts.
Dinos CCCDD - Their cappuccino is good. Simple, decent food, but sometimes inattentive waiters. Take insect repellent with you.
Food Hall CCDDD - Mixed bags of places, some such as the Lebanese are over priced and poor quality.
Fuddruckers CDDDD - Awful tasting buffalo wings and one of the worst waiter service in Alex. You'll never have a problem finding a table.
Starbucks CCDDD - Not the best cafe in Carre Forre. Weak service and pathetic salads.
Green plaza
An awful hotel, but a few of the eateries are decent:
Tarboush CCCDD- Opposite Alfa Market; good food, especially the Chicken Swarma for a quick take away
Jungle Tea Garden CCCCD - Excellent place to eat in a fantastic jungle environment. Wide choice of styles including Mexican, but avoid the Chinese; better done elsewhere in Alex. Serves Alcohol.
Kentucky CCDDD - Strange inedible, crispy, spicy version is given unless you explicitly request the original. Not as good as the European variety; some have complained of stomach upsets, be warned!
McDonalds CCDDD - Below European standard burgers, but they will deliver if that's your taste.
Mercure Hotel
Chinese / Thai CCCDD - Same chain as the Sofitel Cecil, but stuck in the back of the Mercure. Thai is overpriced and not really Thai. Ignore the claim that their chefs are Chinese and Thai Nationals, because they're not. OK for delivery.
Palestinian Hotel, Montasa
Main Restaurant CCCCD - Good all round dining, good service. Serves Alcohol, including Stella Premium, the best of the local varieties of lager.
Portuguese Club CCCDD - Gathering place for drunk Americans; you'll regularly see them passed out in the circular enclave. On the plus side the pepper steak is good. There is a women's group that gather every Monday at 10am, for a small entrance fee which entitles you to a free tea. There is a large area for children to run around, although there is little else for children to do.
San Stefano
Sheraton Montaza
Main Restaurant CCCCD - High quality dining, good service
Sofitel Cecil
Chinese / Thai CCCCD - Good quality Chinese food, worth checking out just for the outstanding view of the harbour. Serves Alcohol.
Green Garden CCCCD - Great service any time of the day, and the quality of food is very good. Serves Alcohol, including a good house wine.
Monty's CCCDD - A decent enough bar for drinks, but quite a few locals go there; avoid if a band is playing as they cater to the local taste of blasting loud awful screeching songs, and then the locals want top get up and dance with the lady singer
