Be worried, be very worried. Our friend Hosni has got together with the Russians to build nuclear generators, possibly on the North coast. If they demolish Alex, that's fine. Maybe it's our confused state of mind, but could anyone suggest a safer alternative in a Country when the sun always shines? Stick a solar panel on every roof in Cairo and Bob's yer uncle! Can you imagine Egyptians in charge of a nuclear plant? Makes Homer Simpson look like an ideal candidate for the top job. Admin at Expats suggest everyone start stockpiling the radiation tablets. Alternatively, like me, leave after the summer and go far far away!

We've received an email from a fan of ExpatsInAlex, complaining that we don't update the news section enough. We're scratched our brain and put together this update for the last few months, containing all the most interesting news about Alex...
People went to the bar and got drunk. People went shopping. People went to work. (Er, that's enough of that nonsense I think!! If you have any real news that we missed, please pass it on. We've had several things said about a couple of teachers from one of the dodgy schools in the last two months - this isn't news and we're not printing it; please stop bickering folks, life is hard enough here.)

The building collapse in Loran is another example to the despicable way the local authorities treat people here. Many properties are owned by police, who of course rub each other's back and avoid the regulations; this building had an order to remove the unlicensed extension nearly ten years ago, but the order was not enforced. Egypt is a corrupt piss hole and innocents, like the child who died last week, continue to suffer because of the piss poor attitude of those with money. I keep hearing Egyptians love their children, but I've seen little by way of examples. They love only their money: they know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Hell of a lot happening in the world of education this month. One of the upcoming schools just took a plunge in ratings and one of the old favourites has had a swinging door policy for its principals; Shultz are on their third in the space of a few months.
We are thinking about introducing a page called Favourite expats of Alex, send your nominations ASAP. This is following our rant about a young scally on the education pages recently; we want to introduce a bit of positivism here to honour our best citizens.

We made it back to town last month. Why we came back we've no idea. Alex is still the boring shthole it has been for years now; crap pervades the streets even more than it did 5 months ago. Still, now we're back, send us your thoughts again please.
Thanks to the couple of contributors who added stuff whilst we were gone. They shall remain nameless, as requested. Check the humour pages for how to be an Egyptian...

Someone please tell us, is it May or have we drunk too much at the spitfire and lost seven months? The weather ain't what it should be for this time of year. All seems well on the Discussion site, in so far as it's working properly nowadays. The pavements are slowly being completed along the main roads; all a mess for a long time then a mile seemed to be completed overnight. Lets see how long it takes for the to complete the Roushdy section. Any bets? 1 month? 6 months? 6 years?
It's nearly that time of year when many of you are leaving for home. Please tell us about your experiences in Alex. Did you love it or loath it? Especially interested to know about your villas & apartments. Send the information to recommend, or not, where you've been staying so that next seasons newcomers get some tips.

We've been hit by a mixture of incompetent technicians (our web host provider) and the possibility of an attack on the site. We hope things are working better, although there are still a few things on the discussion site that need to be ironed out. This site can only grow through people sending in stuff so get writing people.

We have a handful of new photos for the Your Views photo section. Thanks to Sywar for those. Please send us your pictures and stories to help build this site.

The site is getting popular; we are on the way towards 100 hits a week, with the forum being a very popular section; a good record for a small site such as ours. It is now your turn to improve the site by sending us your information about Alex. Use the email above to write to us. (By the way, we avoid showing the email joined up to stop being bombarded with spam, so please type the email addresses without the spaces and they will reach us.).

After a few glitches our forum is now working well again. Apologies to the lady who has lost a couple of posts, but we had to reset things to an earlier state to get things working again. Please repost any lost articles.

Following some windbag moaner we've made a few changes to our forum. It's prettier now.

What's going on at the British School, Roushdy. A teacher tells me that parents didn't turn up for a meeting on Monday? Did Davey prepare his speech for nothing? If anyone knows more, please tell. Was it a one-off p-poor organisation or is there trouble brewing?
It's getting warmer folks, I saw a tourist / newbie in shorts and t-shirt today!

It finally happened, Starbucks opened in Carre Forre! Opinions? Well we tried it and thought it was so so. The sandwiches aren't as good as the UK Panini and it is very expensive by Alex standards for the type of food on offer. The Caeser Salad was just a big bucket of lettuce. Worst still, they expect you to line up instead of coming over to serve you! A rating of 2 out of 5 will appear on our reviews page soon.
We're hearing all sorts of rumours about this and that in Alex. Pass on your inside info and we will print it here, if it isn't too libellous. By the way, the rumour about Davey's special infection are not true. And yes, Mikey, it happens to us all eventually.

Did anyone go to the concert? Which concert I hear someone say; The Royal Philly!!! A great event, thanks to the Brit Council for putting that on. It isn't often we get that quality out here.
