Realistically there are only two schools in Alexandria suitable for English speaking expat families. There are schools that suggest they follow British or American Curricula, but non have the resources to support good quality teaching; indeed one group of schools we would advise strongly against as the owner has a very dubious history, and looses new teachers as quickly as she finds them because of a tendency to break contractual agreements.
UK Curriculum
British School of Alexandria (BSA) 4/5 stars
US Curriculum
Schutz American School (SAS) 3/5 stars
Following recent events, we strongly urge teachers to think very carefully before accepting a job with any school in Alexandria; with the exception of BSA, Kafa Abdou, which has a very good reputation for dealing with staff. Contracts are clearly not going to be honoured by some school owners.
| BSA | Originally established as a school for expats on the grounds of
the British Consulate, it has
grown since BSA opened its doors to local children a few years ago. Nov 2007 Update: Despite a variable year last year, Terry has emerged as a strong head and now has good support from his staff. It looks like BSA are back on tracks. Nursery: @£2000 / $4000 pa Head: Terry Garbett. Tel: 03 5445426 |
| SAS | Long established school with decent reputation for US curriculum
school. Nov 2007 update: Talk about misinformation, there's loads of change with Schultz. They're going through heads of school like lions on antelopes. We won't put the present incumbents name here just yet, because it might change again next week at the rate Shultz is going....be afraid, be very afraid. Fees ? (Please let us know if you know) Head: ??????? Tel: 03 5762205 / 5741435 |
